ecobee

ecobee's pitch is comfort per room rather than cleverness. Its thermostats work with remote sensors so the system responds to the rooms you occupy, and they have long supported Apple Home natively — still uncommon in this category.

What ecobee is known for

• Smart thermostats with included remote sensors
• Native Apple Home support and a built-in voice assistant
• Air quality monitoring on higher-end models

What to know before you buy

Comfort depends on where you put the sensors and how your HVAC zones actually work. Check compatibility and C-wire requirements first, and do not expect any thermostat to override a poorly balanced duct system.
