Our research standard

Every Verenlow guide and review is built from primary sources:

  • Manufacturer product pages and official specification sheets
  • Published compatibility lists and hub support documentation
  • Official support articles and firmware release notes
  • Publicly documented standards from the Connectivity Standards Alliance and similar bodies

Where sources disagree, we say so. Where a specification changes frequently — Matter support and hub compatibility are the obvious examples — we tell you to verify with the manufacturer before you buy.

Hands-on testing claims

We do not claim hands-on testing unless we have actually handled the product, and we label any page where we have. Pages that are research-based are identified as such. You will not find phrases like "we tested this for three weeks" on a page where nobody tested anything.

What we never publish

  • Invented prices, discounts or availability dates
  • Star ratings or scores with no stated methodology
  • Fabricated battery, range or performance measurements
  • Claims that a product was tested when it was not
  • Specifications copied from another publication without verification

Independence and advertising

Verenlow earns money from affiliate commissions when readers buy through our links. That revenue does not influence what we recommend. No manufacturer can pay for a ranking, a review, a mention or a better placement, and we do not accept sponsored content that is presented as editorial.

Where a product is genuinely poor value or has a significant limitation, we say so in the guide. See the affiliate disclosure.

Updates and corrections

Smart home hardware changes quickly. Guides carry a last-updated date, and we revisit high-traffic pages when manufacturers ship significant firmware or product changes. If you spot an error, email editorial@verenlow.com with the page URL and a source, and we will verify and correct it.

Note: Compatibility and feature details on this page come from manufacturer documentation and published specifications at the time of writing. Support changes with firmware, so confirm the current details with the manufacturer before you buy.
